JG Brashears was from Texas and ...I believe the Lt. JG Brashears was from Texas and called "Tex". If this is the correct person he served in an LCT flotilla that passed up the Philippine coast from Leyte to Luzon (enduring in that transit the first mass Kamikazi attacks). The flotilla in question participated in one of the assault waves of the invasion of Luzon (north of Manila) on January 9, 1945. After that engagement the flotilla was assigned to offload cargo, often bombs destined for B29's at Clark Field. Some associated flotillas were dispatched to the invasion of Iwo Jima. The flotilla to which he was probably assigned included LCT's with non-sequential numbers.
